General Meeting
Dentist and Office Manager only, please.
Description: New to human resources? Or simply want to make sure you are doing things the right way? Employment laws are here to protect businesses and employees alike, but sometimes they’re not obvious. Even the most conscientious and informed employers can sometimes miss details and changes to employment laws.
Build your HR muscles at this information-packed seminar focused on the employment lifecycle, from hiring through termination. CDA’s expert, Michelle Coker, will explain and provide basic compliance information for core fundamentals such as the hiring process, discipline and termination, wage and hour, meal and rest breaks, leaves of absence, discrimination and harassment prevention and policies and best practices.
Please submit your questions before the meeting so there will be adequate time to address them all.
Michelle Coker, PHR, PHRca, Practice Analyst, CDA Practice Support contributes regularly to CDA publications, develops Practice Support resources for use by members on CDA’s website and speaks to dentistry audiences across California with a focus on best employment practices and compliance. Having earned several HR law certifications, she specializes in employment practices, including employee management, policy development and CA employment law compliance. Ms. Coker began her dentistry career as an assistant, quickly becoming an office manager and now brings 18 years of private practice management experience, plus over 16 years supporting CDA members

Learn how forensic dentists have participated in events such as commercial airline crashes, tsunamis, hurricanes and wildfires. See how the postmortem record collection has evolved from analog to digital.
In addition, dental healthcare professionals are mandated by law to report patients they suspect have signs or symptoms of physical abuse. This course will familiarize you with what those signs may be as well as discuss what your reporting duties are and how to properly file a report if you suspect abuse on a patient.
